Premier League champions Manchester City will have to look elsewhere in the pursuit of a left-back after Brighton and Hove Albion ended talks over Marc Cucurella.

The Spaniard had been the subject of negotiations between the two sides in recent weeks, with City hopeful of securing a deal as they look to replace Oleksandr Zinchenko, who joined Arsenal.

Cucurella, 24, will not be joining City, though, as Brighton have ended talks over the player and insisted that they will not consider offers below £50 million, according to The Athletic.

Cucurella is keen on a move to Man City

The player, who joined Brighton last summer from La Liga side Getafe, handed in a transfer request on Friday amid ongoing speculation, but it is thought that this didn’t alter the club’s stance.

The Community Shield runners-up have already had an initial offer of £30 million rejected and, while they were willing to pay as much as £40 million, the Seagulls are not interested in discussing incremental price increases.

Cucurella made 38 appearances during his debut season on the south coast, and has been linked with other clubs both in England and abroad.
