England face New Zealand on Saturday, in the first of two friendlies ahead of the World Cup in North America this summer.

Thomas Tuchel’s side will play against New Zealand in Tampa, before facing Costa Rica in Orlando in their final match before their World Cup opener against Croatia on June 17.

Much was made of Tuchel’s 26-man squad when it was announced last month, with Ivan Toney, Noni Madueke and Djed Spence among the most surprising inclusions.

One player that looks set to feature heavily during this summer’s tournament is midfielder Elliot Anderson, and it has now emerged that the Englishman has been the subject of an opening offer from a huge club.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have had their first bid for Anderson rejected by Nottingham Forest, with the club set to demand in excess of £100 million for the player.

Anderson was in fine form for Forest last term and has been heavily linked with a move away from The City Ground this summer.

Several sides are said to be interested in the midfielder, who has played more than 90 times for his current side since joining from Newcastle United back in 2024.

Romano claims that City are also considering a possible move to sign Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali as an alternative to Anderson, if they fail to agree a deal for the Forest man.

While the details of City’s first offer for Anderson hasn’t been revealed, Romano claims that Nottingham Forest value the player at more than £100 million, which could potentially make him the most expensive English player in history if a deal was agreed.

City could also face competition in the race to sign Tonali, however, with Premier League champions Arsenal also said to be interested in the Italy international.
