Manchester City kept the pressure up on Premier League leaders Liverpool with a 3-2 win over Newcastle United on Saturday.

The visitors went ahead at St. James’ Park courtesy of Bernardo Silva’s superb finish, but the hosts turned the game on its head with quickfire goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.

Eddie Howe’s side went into the break ahead, but the game swung once again when City boss Pep Guardiola substituted Kevin De Bruyne on with just under 20 minutes remaining.

Within minutes of entering the action, the Belgian midfielder drew the Citizens level with a calm side-footed finish, and in added-time he provided a perfect pass for Oscar Bobb to put City in the lead and secure all three points.

The result moves City into second place, just two points behind league leaders Liverpool.

Both the Reds and fellow title chasers Arsenal are in action at the weekend, but in the meantime it appears that Man City are hoping to beat the Gunners to the signing of a Premier League star.

Neto has attracted interest from both Arsenal and Manchester City

As per FootballTransfers, the Manchester outfit are hoping to beat Arsenal in the race to sign Wolves star Pedro Neto.

The report claims that City will offer the winger a guarantee of first team football in the hope that they will be able to persuade him to move to The Etihad instead of The Emirates.

Neto, 23, joined Wolves from Italian side Lazio back in 2019 and has since played an instrumental role for the Midlands club.

In total he has made 123 appearances for Wolves across all competitions, scoring 12 goals and providing 22 assists.

He has been particularly impressive this season, providing eight assists in his first ten Premier League matches before suffering a hamstring injury that sidelined him until very recently.

Arsenal are said to have been long-term admirers of the Portuguese.
