Manchester City are one of just three Premier League sides that are yet to make a single signing so far this summer.

The reigning champions will hope to win a record fifth top flight title next term, but manager Pep Guardiola is yet to delve into the transfer market to add to his squad.

Now, though, that could be about to change.

According to Football Insider, the Citizens are in pole position to land RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo.

The 26-year-old played a key role for Spain as they won Euro 2024 in Germany, beating England in the final.

The attacker scored three goals and provided two assists at the tournament, despite not starting any of Spain’s group stage matches.

The report claims that City are battling the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the race to land the Spaniard, who can operate in a number of roles including as an attacking midfielder and on either flank.

Olmo was one of the stars of Euro 2024

Olmo joined Leipzig from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in 2020 and has since played 148 times for the German side across all competitions, scoring 29 goals and registering 34 assists.

It is claimed that Olmo – who has recently admitted he has ‘several options available’ to him – had a £51 million release clause in his contract, although it expired on Monday without City activating it.

The report also claims, though, that a deal is likely to be finalised once payment terms can be agreed.

If he does join City, Olmo would be battling with the likes of Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Julian Alvarez for a starting spot in Guardiola’s side.
