Manchester City travel to face Ligue 1 side Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Citizens ran out 5-2 winners over Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday, with striker Erling Haaland netting twice for Pep Guardiola’s side.

That win moved City up to seventh in the top flight table, and Guardiola will hope to see his side pick up all three points against Monaco on Wednesday.

In the meantime, it has emerged that City are keeping tabs on a Bundesliga star.

As per CaughtOffside, City have identified Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic as a possible long-term replacement for Rodri.

It is claimed that City have identified the Germany international as a candidate to replace Rodri, who has established himself as one of the most important players in Guardiola’s side over recent seasons.

The Premier League giants are said to be plotting a January move for the midfielder with the bid likely to be in the region of £40-45 million.

Pavlovic, 21, joined Bayern’s youth system as a youngster and has since progressed into the first team in Bavaria.

In total he has now played 61 times for the club across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing three assists.

The German is contracted to Bayern until the end of the 2028/29 season, but it appears that City may attempt to lure him to England when the transfer window reopens in January.

City boss Guardiola is said to be a particularly keen admirer of the midfielder, although the Citizens could face competition from Italian giants Juventus who are also keeping tabs on the player’s situation.

French champions Paris Saint-Germian are also monitoring Pavlovic, who was previously linked with a move to Manchester United.
