Although Manchester City are romping to another Premier League title under Pep Guardiola, the decline and imminent departure of club legend Sergio Aguero will leave a vacancy in the attack.

Few players will be able to match the output of the Argentine, who is also scorer of the greatest moment in Premier League history when his last-gasp goal against QPR snatched a title from under the noses of neighbours Manchester United.

However, one man has continued to develop and impress fans of every team as he lights up the division in search of an England place, and would improve any side in the country.

That man is Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, who top clubs have been keeping tabs on for years as the Villans continue to push for a top-half finish.

Football Insider are reporting that the attacking midfielders new contract, which keeps him at the Birmingham club until 2025, actually has a release clause of which City have been made known.

After almost twenty years with the club, Birmingham Man boy Jack Grealish is now captain

The report also details that the player has told friends he would be interested in moving to the Manchester club in the summer, excited about the possibility of competing for trophies on every front in his peak years.

Grealish is a boyhood Villa fan, though, and has stuck with the club at every turn so far, with the club reaping the rewards with 23 appearances this season yielding seven goals and 12 assists.

City owner Sheikh Mansour wants to land the English playmaker and the club possess an abundance of ambition and funding that could bring him to the blue side of Manchester, but the actual cost of the aforementioned release clause is as of yet unknown.

Should this deal happen, could Grealish provide the creativity needed to fill an inevitable void that a club icon’s departure always leaves – and is it mutually beneficial for club and player?
