Manchester City cruised to a 4-0 victory over Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League group phase on Tuesday night.

Ilkay Gundogan’s first gol since his sensational return to the club put the visitors ahead in Slovakia, before Phil Foden doubled their lead.

Erling Haaland then netted his ninth goal of the new campaign, before midfielder James McAtee added City’s fourth late on.

Now, though, it appears that McAtee could be considering a future away from Manchester City.

According to GiveMeSport, the 21-year-old is seeking assurances about his playing time before deciding whether or not to leave City in January.

The youngster has spent the past two seasons on loan at Sheffield United, making 75 appearances for the Blades in total.

McAtee will seek assurances about his part in Guardiola’s plans

Despite being one of the most promising youngsters to emerge from City’s academy in recent times, he has only ever played 11 times for the club at senior level – and his goal on Tuesday was his first for City.

The player is reportedly keen to clarify his place in manager Pep Guardiola’s plans, before potential seeking a move away from The Etihad when the transfer window reopens in January.

It is also claimed that City rejected offers in the region of £30 million for the midfielder during the recent summer window, but he has since played just over 200 minutes for the club this season across all competitions.

McAtee is contracted to the Premier League champions until the end of next term, but the report suggests that the player is prepared to instigate discussions over his future if he isn’t assured of the playing time he craves.

During his time at Brammall Lane, the England Under-21 international scored 14 times and provided eight assists.
