After a summer of big spending, shock moves and plenty of drama, the window’s biggest transfer saga looks set to go down to the wire.

Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane was withdrawn from the club’s squad to face Pacos de Ferreira in the Europa Conference League on Thursday, despite having previously been included and expected to feature.

This fuelled further speculation surrounding the striker’s future, as Manchester City continue to circle with less than a fortnight to go until the window closes once again.

Kane had reportedly snubbed Spurs training in protest at not being allowed to join City, but it appears that the player is now back with his teammates and ready to feature when required.

Now, it appears that there may be another obstacle in City’s way.

According to The Athletic, City midfielder Bernardo Silva has disrupted the club’s pursuit of Kane, by refusing to join the Lilywhites.

The report suggests that the Portuguese had been considered as part of a player-plus-cash offer for Kane, to sweeten the deal with Spurs and also reduce the financial cost for City.

Kane has been absent from both of Spurs’ matchday squads so far this term.

However, the 27-year-old has flatly refused to make the move to North London, despite being open about his desire to leave the club this summer.

Silva reportedly favours a move to Spain and, despite Barcelona and Atletico Madrid both registering an interest, financial constraints may prevent a deal from materialising.

Silva is believed to have fallen further down the pecking order at The Etihad after the arrival of Jack Grealish, and has decided that he wishes to find a new challenge elsewhere.

City’s pursuit of Kane may now be prolonged even further as the reigning Premier League champions weigh up an offer for the England captain.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly unwilling to even listen to offers of less than £150 million for the striker, who won his third golden boot last season and also boasts a World Cup golden boot to his name.
