Premier League champions Manchester City host Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday in the pick of this weekend’s matches.

City return to action after the international break in the midst of a poor run of form, having lost four consecutive games across all competitions.

Pep Guardiola’s side therefore sit five points adrift of current leaders Liverpool, while Spurs occupy tenth place after being beaten 2-1 by Ipswich Town prior to the international break.

Both Guardiola and Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou will be desperate to see their respective sides return to winning ways, and Saturday’s clash is therefore an intriguing one.

Off the pitch, though, it had emerged that one of City’s fringe players is set for talks about his future after struggling for game time recently.

According to GiveMeSport, midfielder James McAtee is set to sit down for discussions with Guardiola to get an understanding of the Spaniard’s plans for the player.

McAtee is set to stay put at The Etihad for at least the remainder of the current season

McAtee, 22, is a product of City’s youth system and has spent the past two seasons on loan at Sheffield United.

In total he played 75 times for the Blades across all competitions, but he has played just 13 times for the Citizens at senior level.

The report claims that the midfielder is set for talks with Guardiola prior to the January transfer window, however the former England Under-21 international is likely to stay put at The Etihad for the remainder of this season regardless of the outcome of those talks.

This season, the Englishman has been limited to just six appearances across all competitions, playing a single minute in the Premier League.

The midfielder’s current £15,000-per-week contract with City isn’t set to expire until 2026, but it remains to be seen how long the player will stay put in Manchester.

London sides West Ham United and Fulham are both said to have shown interest in McAtee, who scored 14 goals and registered eight assists during his time with Sheffield United.
