Almost a week after England’s World Cup exit at the hands of France, Gareth Southgate’s future as manager of The Three Lions remains uncertain.

It had been rumoured that the former Middlesbrough boss could leave his post, although other sources claim that he will remain in charge until the end of his current contract, after Euro 2024.

Either way, the future looks bright for England, with a number of young stars pushing to be involved at the next major tournament.

Southgate’s squad for this World Cup featured several players in their early 20s or younger, and the next two years will give other players time to secure their place in the squad for the tournament in Germany.

Now, though, it appears that Manchester City are planning sensational moves for two of England’s brightest young stars.

According to 90min, The Citizens are plotting moves for both Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka.

The pair were arguably England’s two most impressive players in Qatar, with Bellingham in fine form in midfield and Saka netting three goals for Southgate’s side.

Their respective clubs, Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal, could now face a battle to keep hold of the players following their impressive performances at the World Cup, and it appears that the reigning Premier League champions are eyeing both players.

Bellingham and Saka were both outstanding in Qatar

City have recently tied manager Pep Guardiola down to a two-year contract extension that will run until 2025, and it appears that the club are now looking to bolster his squad with two huge moves.

The Manchester side are keeping tabs on Saka’s contract negotiations with The Gunners, which have been going on for more than a year now.

City have been interested in the winger for a while now, and Arsenal are desperately trying to tie him down to a long-term deal as his current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024.

Dortmund, meanwhile, are also hopeful of keeping Bellingham in Germany.

The 19-year-old has been outstanding in the Bundesliga so far this term, and appears to have several options available to him with Liverpool and Real Madrid also believed to be interested.

City have already dealt with Dortmund recently, having signed Erling Haaland from the German side over the summer.

The opportunity for Bellingham to reunite with the Norwegian striker may put City at an advantage in the race to land the midfielder.
