Manchester City are reportedly plotting to make a January swoop for Spain international midfielder Isco.

The Premier League giants, who were knocked off top spot after their devastating 4-1 home defeat to the hands of Liverpool on Saturday, are understood to be ready to make an approach for the Real Madrid ace during the New Year’s transfer window.

The 23-year-old, who has 12 international caps to his name, has scored once and assisted five goals in 16 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga outfit so far this season.

But Isco, who began his career at Spanish rivals Valencia, is thought to be becoming increasingly frustrated at his lack of first-team starts since the appointment of under-pressure manager Rafael Benitez at the Bernabeu, highlighted by his sending off in Madrid’s disastrous 4-0 defeat to El Clasico rivals FC Barcelona on Saturday.
