Manchester City welcome greater Manchester rivals Salford City to The Etihad in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.

The Citizens have won the trophy twice in the last six years but were beaten 2-1 by rivals Manchester United in last season’s final.

Manager Pep Guardiola oversaw a 4-1 win over West Ham United in their last outing, recording back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since October.

The Spaniard will likely rotate his squad for the visit of League Two Salford, but off the pitch those in charge of the club continue to work to bolster his squad.

According to Fabrizio Romano, City are preparing an opening offer for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush.

With talks between the player and City ongoing, the report claims that the Manchester club will now approach their German counterparts in the hope of securing a deal for the player.

City are hoping to sign Marmoush this month

Marmoush, 25, is enjoying a sensational season in Frankfurt, having netted 18 times in 24 matches across all competitions, as well as registering 12 assists.

Romano claims that City are hoping to sign the Egyptian this month, while the player himself is keen on the prospect of a switch to The Etihad.

Marmoush joined Frankfurt in 2023 after leaving fellow German side Wolfsburg, and he has since played 65 times for the club.

The Egypt international’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2027, leaving Frankfurt with a difficult decision to make this month.

City have struggled so far this season, losing six of their last 11 Premier League matches during a run that has almost certainly destroyed their chances of retaining the top flight title.

Those in charge of the club are therefore on the hunt for attacking reinforcements, and Romano suggests that they are hoping to agree a sensational deal for Marmoush before the current window shuts.
