Manchester City will look to move top of the Premier League table when they face Luton Town on Saturday afternoon.

The reigning champions currently sit third but, with Arsenal and Liverpool both in action on Sunday, the Citizens could move into top spot, temporarily at least.

Manager Pep Guardiola could rotate his side after securing a hard-fought 3-3 draw against Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek.

In the meantime, it has emerged that City are hoping to sign a Bundesliga star when the transfer window reopens this summer.

According to TEAMtalk, the Bundesliga side are prepared to spend big to land Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala.

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the most promising young talents in European football at present, and the report claims that City boss Guardiola is keen to bring the star back to England.

Musiala has attracted interest from Man City

Musiala departed Chelsea’s academy to join Bayern’s in the summer of 2019, and he has since scored 43 goals in 159 matches for the German side across all competitions, as well as registering 30 assists.

This season the attacking midfielder has made 34 appearances, scoring 12 goals for Thomas Tuchel’s side, although he has been unable to prevent Bayer Leverkusen from establishing a huge advantage at the top of the Bundesliga table.

The report claims that the Germany international could cost as much as £120 million, a fee that would exceed the club-record £100 million that City paid to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.

Musiala’s versatility could appeal to Guardiola, with the German able to play centrally or on the left flank.

At present, Musiala is contracted to Bayern until the end of the 2025/26 season, but the Bundesliga champions could face a tough task in keeping hold of the player until then.
