Manchester City are reportedly preparing an astonishing £30m raid for England international Jamie Vardy.
The Premier League giants, who eased to a 4-1 thumping win over struggling Sunderland on Boxing Day, are set to join English top-flight rivals Chelsea in the fight to sign the in-form Leicester City striker during next month’s transfer window.
The 28-year-old, who has four international caps for the Three Lions, has scored a sensational 15 league goals in only 18 appearances so far this season to help Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes top the Premier League table.
Vardy, who cost Leicester around £1m back in May 2012 from Fleetwood Town, will be a much sought after player during the January market after becoming the first-ever player to score in 11 consecutive Premier League fixtures this campaign.
City boss Manuel Pellegrini wants Vardy to join the Etihad Stadium outfit to help the Citizens push for their third Premier League title this term, especially with star striker Sergio Aguero continually struggling with injury problems and doubts over whether Wilfried Bony and the young Kelechi Iheanacho can lead the line commandingly in his absence.
