Premier League champions Manchester City head into the international break five points behind leaders Liverpool after a 2-1 defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

The Citizens have now lost four games on the bounce across all competitions, after goals from Joao Pedro and Matt O’Riley earned the Seagulls a famous win at The Amex.

Erling Haaland had put the visitors ahead on the south coast, but Brighton’s two late goals earned them all three points and inflicted another blow on City’s pursuit of a record fifth consecutive Premier League title.

With attention now turning to the international break, City are said to have been quoted a significant sum of money for one of their transfer targets.

As reported by Football Insider, German side Eintracht Frankfurt will demand a fee of around £50-60 million to sell City target Omar Marmoush during the January transfer window.

The forward has started the season in sensational form for Frankfurt, netting 14 times in 16 games across all competitions, as well as providing ten assists.

It is claimed that City are the latest big club to show interest in the 25-year-old, following his superb start to the new campaign.

The report also suggests that the Egyptian is keen to make the step up and play for a club competing in the Champions League, something that City can offer.

Marmoush joined Frankfurt from fellow German side Wolfsburg last summer and has since played 57 times for the club across all competitions, scoring 31 times.

Primarily a striker, the Egypt international is also capable of operating on the left flank or as an attacking midfielder.

He is contracted to Frankfurt until the end of the 2026/27 season, and the German outfit are said to be understandably reluctant to lose such a key player during the mid-season window.
