Manchester City are set to test the resolve of Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion by making an offer for full-back Marc Cucurella in the coming days.

As per The Guardian, City boss Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of the left-back, who joined the Seagulls from Getafe last summer and has impressed during his debut season in English football.

The Spaniard, 23, started all 35 of Brighton’s Premier League games following his arrival on the south coast, and impressed down the left flank of Graham Potter’s side.

City are keen to add to their options at left-back, with Oleksandr Zinchenko and Joao Cancelo sharing the bulk of the minutes there last season.

Cancelo’s natural position is on the opposite flank, and Zinchenko could benefit from a new arrival to provide competition for places.

Although the report doesn’t say how much City are poised to bid for the full-back, it does highlight how the Seagulls are set to make a profit on a player that they paid just £15.4 million for 12 months ago.

City chairman, Khaldoon al-Mubarak, has previously been quoted as saying that there will be at least two more additions to Guardiola’s squad before the start of the season.

The Premier League champions have already landed striker Erling Haaland; the Norwegian has scored 115 goals and provided 30 assists in his last 116 games at club level.
