Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League table with a 6-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

Jeremy Doku was the standout performer for Pep Guardiola’s side at The Etihad, with the Belgian scoring City’s opener before setting up their next four goals.

Doku joined City from French side Rennes over the summer and has impressed during his short career in England so far, scoring three times and providing six assists in 12 matches across all competitions.

Despite Doku’s impressive form, it appears that the Citizens have been scouting other attacking targets.

As per 90min, City had scouts in attendance at Bayer Leverkusen’s win over Hoffenheim on Saturday, in order to watch Florian Wirtz.

It is claimed that the Premier League side are long-term admirers of the Germany international, who netted as Leverkusen battled to a 3-2 win in the Bundesliga.

Wirtz is a target for Premier League champions Manchester City

The 20-year-old forward has endured a fine start to the season, scoring six goals and providing nine assists in 15 matches across all competitions.

He has been particularly impressive in the Bundesliga, helping Xabi Alonso’s side to top spot in the top flight table after ten games.

Wirtz has spent the entirety of his senior career at the German club, scoring 29 goals and providing 39 assists in 118 matches across all competitions.

The German primarily operates as an attacking midfielder but is also capable of playing in other advanced roles.

Despite interest from City, the player is contracted to Leverkusen until the summer of 2027, which puts the German club under very little pressure to sell him anytime soon.
