Manchester City will look to continue the defence of their Premier League crown when they face Wolves on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side currently sit second in the standings, a single point behind leaders Arsenal, but they do have a game-in-hand over the Gunners.

City will be hoping to defeat Wolves, before facing Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United in their final three games.

In the meantime, City are said to have scouted a Chelsea star in Champions League action.

As per Graeme Bailey, City had scouts in attendance to watch Ian Maatsen at Borussia Dortmund’s win over Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.

Maatsen is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund

The left-back is currently on loan at Dortmund from Chelsea, having struggled to establish himself as a regular under Mauricio Pochettino during the first half of the season.

Maatsen, 22, has played in 14 of Dortmund’s 15 Bundesliga matches since moving to Germany in January, only missing their last match due to suspension.

Last year the full-back signed a contract extension with the Blues that runs until 2026, but the deal includes a £35 million release clause and the report suggests that City are interested in the Dutchman.

Dortmund are said to be keen on the idea of signing both Maatsen and teammate Jadon Sancho – currently on loan from Manchester United – permanently this summer, but they may struggle to finance the deals.

City have been interested in the player for some time now, and could move for him this summer as they search for a new left-back.

The Premier League side could face competition from German giants Bayern Munich in the race to sign Maatsen, the report suggests.
