Premier League champions Manchester City will aim to win a record fifth consecutive top flight title next term.

Having won an outstanding treble during the 2022/23 campaign, Pep Guardiola’s side defended their league title last season and in doing so became the first team in history to win four top flight titles on the bounce.

The Spaniard will be desperate to see his side win yet another Premier League title, but it remains to be seen whether or not he will add to his squad during the current transfer window.

Now, though, it appears that one of City’s most important players has agreed a shock move to the Middle East.

According to TEAMtalk, midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has ‘given his approval’ to a proposed move to Pro League side Al-Ittihad, following conversation’s between the player’s agent and representatives of the club.

De Bruyne has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia

De Bruyne, 33, joined the Citizens from German side Wolfsburg in 2015 and has since played more than 380 games for the club across all competitions.

He has scored 102 goals in that time, as well as providing 170 assists.

The Belgium international is regarded as one of the best midfielders of his generation, but his contract with City is set to expire next summer meaning he now has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal.

It is claimed that, despite his importance to Guardiola’s side, City would prefer to sell De Bruyne for a significant fee this summer, as opposed to losing him for free next year.

As well as De Bruyne, goalkeeper Ederson has also been heavily linked with a move to the Middle East.
