Manchester City continue their quest for a second Champions League triumph when they host Sparta Prague on Wednesday night.

After drawing 0-0 against Inter Milan in their opening match of the group phase, City produced a fine display to record a routine 4-0 win over Slovan Bratislava last time out.

Pep Guardiola’s side therefore remain on course to qualify automatically for the knockout stages of the competition, but the Spaniard will expect to see his side beat Sparta convincingly.

In the meantime, it has emerged that one of City’s midfielders could leave the club next summer.

As per GiveMeSport, City are not ruling out the possibility of selling Matheus Nunes next summer.

The Portugal international joined the Citizens from fellow Premier League side Wolves last year, but has failed to establish himself as a regular in Guardiola’s side.

Nunes has made eight appearances for City so far this season

The 26-year-old has failed to start a single Premier League match so far this tern, although he could be given opportunities to impress against Slovan Bratislava and in City’s next Premier League match, against Southampton on Saturday.

Despite winning the Premier League in his debut season at The Etihad, Nunes featured just 19 times for City over the course of the league campaign and made only nine starts.

Nunes has also fallen further down the pecking order at The Etihad following the arrival of Ilkay Gundogan from Spanish side Barcelona.

It is claimed that City could therefore cash in on the Portuguese during next summer’s transfer window, if he fails to impress when given the chance in the coming weeks.

Nunes’ current deal with the Citizens is set to run until the end of the 2027/28 campaign, but City could instead look to offload him next summer if he doesn’t earn himself more regular game time in Guardiola’s side.
