Manchester City will look to end a run of three consecutive defeats when they face Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been defeated by Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth and Sporting CP in the Carabao Cup, Premier League and Champions League respectively over the past ten days.

That run of results – City’s first trio of consecutive losses since 2018 – will have come as something of a shock to Guardiola, who will be desperate to see his side return to winning ways at The Amex on Saturday.

In the meantime, it has emerged that one of the club’s players could be considering a move away from The Etihad.

As per Football Insider, Stefan Ortega could push to leave City if fellow goalkeeper Ederson signs a new contract with the club.

Ortega, 32, is currently City’s second choice ‘keeper and has made just four appearances so far this term – in the Carabao Cup and Champions League group phase.

The German, who joined City from Arminia Bielefeld two years ago, has around 18 months remaining on his current contract with the Citizens.

Ortega has played just four times so far this season

Despite this, the report suggests that he could depart The Etihad if Brazil international Ederson pens a new deal.

Ederson has been heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Arabian Pro League in recent months, but it is claimed that he is now in talks with his current employers about potentially extending his stay in Manchester.

The Brazilian, who has played more than 340 times for City, is also set to be out of contract in 2026 at present.

Ortega has kept 19 clean sheets in 38 games for City across all competitions, but has only featured in the Premier League on 12 occasions.

The German has recently been linked with a return to the Bundesliga, with champions Bayer Leverkusen said to be on the hunt for a new ‘keeper.
