Manchester City get their pre-season campaign underway next week with a game against German champions Bayern Munich.

The Citizens – who won the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup last term – haven’t yet played a friendly this summer, but manager Pep Guardiola will undoubtedly be working hard to prepare his side for the upcoming season.

Since completing a remarkable treble at the end of last season, City have lost midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who joined Spanish side Barcelona.

Mateo Kovacic has arrived from rivals Chelsea, but it now appears that City will soon lose another key first team player.

As per Fabrizio Romano, winger Riyad Mahrez is set to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli.

The Italian journalist claims that the Algeria international will sign a four-year contract with the Pro League side, with the two clubs having agreed a fee in the region of £30 million for the player.

Mahrez, 32, joined the Citizens from Leicester City back in 2018 – having helped the Foxes to win the Premier League title during the 2015/16 season.

Mahrez is expected to join Al Ahli this summer

During his time in Manchester, the Algerian has made a total of 236 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 78 goals and providing 59 assists.

The ex-Le Havre man has also won no fewer than 12 trophies during his time at The Etihad, including four Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Romano claims that Mahrez is set to undergo a medical in the next 24 hours ahead of the proposed move, before the deal will be officially completed and announced.

Mahrez will become the latest of several high-profile players from across Europe to join the Saudi Arabian Pro League.

So far this summer several players have moved to the Middle East, including Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Ruben Neves, and Edouard Mendy.
