Manchester City travel to face Championship side Bristol City in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Tuesday evening.

Pep Guardiola’s side currently sit second in the Premier League table and will see the FA Cup as one of their best opportunities for silverware this term.

Last time out City cruised to a 4-0 victory over Bournemouth in the league, with both Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez netting against The Cherries.

The former’s strike was his 33rd goal in as many games across all competitions this season, while Alvarez scored his tenth goal of the campaign.

Despite his relatively strong start to life at The Etihad, it appears that Alvarez isn’t entirely happy at the club.

According to 90min, the striker has been offered a contract extension but is unsure that he will be guaranteed the playing time he requires.

Since joining The Citizens from Argentinian side River Plate last summer, the 23-year-old has made 30 appearances across all competitions, although he has only started six Premier League matches.

Alvarez played a crucial role for Argentina as they lifted the World Cup in Qatar in December, scoring four goals in seven appearances.

Alvarez netted his tenth City goal against Bournemouth on Sunday

Despite seemingly being behind Haaland in the pecking order at The Etihad, City are said to have been so impressed with the Argentina international that they have offered him an extension.

The proposed new deal is said to be a five-year contract which would earn Alvarez a significant pay rise.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are all said to have shown an interest in Alvarez, who is unhappy with his current playing time and unconvinced that his situation will improve any time soon.

City, though, are reluctant to allow one of their most promising young players to leave any time soon, and they are under very little pressure to sell as he is contracted to the club until 2027.
