Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will likely want to bolster his squad this summer before his side go for a record fifth top flight title next term.

The Citizens became the first side in the history of English top flight football to win four consecutive league titles last season, but failed to defend their Champions League or FA Cup crowns.

Guardiola will now likely want to add to his squad during the upcoming summer transfer window, but it appears that City are facing a battle to keep hold of one of their key players.

According to Football Insider, midfielder Bernardo Silva is set to inform the club that he wishes to depart this summer.

The 29-year-old has come close to leaving The Etihad during each of the past two summer transfer windows, with French giants Paris Saint-Germain and Spanish side Barcelona both showing interest in the player.

Silva is once again being linked with a move away from Manchester City

The Portuguese joined City from French side Monaco in 2017 and has since established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League.

In total he has played 355 times for City across all competitions, scoring 66 goals and providing the same number of assists.

Silva has won no fewer than 16 trophies during his time in Manchester so far, including the Champions League and six Premier League titles.

The report claims that the player will tell City that he wishes to leave the club, despite Guardiola being keen to keep hold of him.

City will reportedly demand a fee of around £50 million for the Portugal international, who will represent his country at the European Championships in Germany this summer.

It is claimed that a move this summer is regarded as more likely than it was during previous windows.
