Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden is set to sign a lucrative new long-term deal with the club.

The Englishman has agreed a £225,000-per-week contract with the Premier League champions, that will keep him at the club until 2028.

City are hopeful that Foden, 22, will continue his meteoric rise and become one of the world’s best midfielders, and they were therefore desperate to tie the player down to a longer term deal than his previous one.

The England international’s new deal will make him one of the world’s best paid young players, and will also see his wage increase by more than seven times.

Foden is a regular for both City and England

Foden has scored 45 goals and provided 33 assists in 168 games for City’s senior side, since making his debut in 2017 after progressing through City’s academy.

Pep Guardiola has already lost Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Oleksandr Zinchenko this summer, and will have been pleased to secure one of his best talent’s futures.

Foden reportedly earns £30,000-per-week at present after signing his last deal in 2018, but is to be rewarded for his impressive form last term and is expected to be given a significant amount of playing time next term.
