All eyes will be on Wembley on Sunday as Manchester City face Arsenal in the Community Shield.

The Citizens will be hoping to add another piece of silverware to their trophy cabinet after winning the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup last term.

Arsenal, meanwhile, will be looking to go one better this season having finished as runners-up in the league last term.

Ahead of the tie, City appear to have made a huge decision on the future of one of their stars.

According to Fabrizio Romano, City have told Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain that they have no intention of selling midfielder Bernardo Silva this summer.

The Portuguese joined the Manchester club from French side Monaco back in 2017 and has since played an integral role for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Silva is set to be offered a new contract with Manchester City

In total he has made more than 300 appearances for his current club across all competitions, but his performances have attracted interest from Spain and France.

Silva, 28, has been linked with a departure from The Etihad during each of the past three summer transfer windows and was said to have asked for a move last year, but nothing materialised.

As well as notifying Barcelona and PSG of their stance on Silva’s future, City are also planning to offer the midfielder a new contract in an effort to deter interest in him, Romano claims.

It is also claimed that the player’s decision will be crucial, with Silva ultimately set to decide whether or not to sign an extension to his City contract.

At present the player is contracted to City until 2025, but the club are keen to tie him down to a long-term deal and ensure he stays put in Manchester.

Silva has scored 55 goals and provided 59 assists during his time in Manchester, as well as winning no fewer than 14 trophies.
