Manchester City are set to rival Liverpool for the signature of Arsenal star Bukayo Saka, according to reports.

As per The Daily Mail, the Citizens are plotting a move for the England international, who played all 38 of the Gunners’ Premier League games this season.

Saka, 20, scored 11 goals and provided seven assists over the course of the league campaign, which culminated in Mikel Arteta’s side narrowly missing out on Champions League football after an end of season collapse.

It appears that the England international’s performances have done enough to attract the attention of both City and Liverpool, though.

The report claims that Pep Guardiola’s side have stepped up their interest in the youngster, and are hoping to beat the Reds to the player’s signature.

At the age of 20, Saka has already made more than 130 appearances for the Gunners

The versatile winger, who can also play at full-back and across the front three, will enter into the final two years of his contract at The Emirates this summer, and persuading him to sign a new deal is one of the club’s top priorities.

It is claimed that both City and Liverpool are unlikely to make an offer for the player this summer, although the former have registered an interest in the player at a crucial time in Arsenal’s efforts to tie him down to a new deal.

The player’s contract is actually due to expire next summer but includes an option for a further year, which Arteta’s side are expected to activate.
