Manchester City continue the defence of their Premier League crown when they welcome newly-promoted Ipswich Town to The Etihad on Saturday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s side beat Chelsea 2-0 in their season opener on Sunday, and they will go into the game against the Tractor Boys as overwhelming favourites.

City have been relatively quiet so far this transfer window, with winger Savinho their inly signing of the summer so far.

Now, though, one of City’s youngsters is set to depart the club on loan for the remainder of the current campaign.

According to Fabrizio Romano, defensive midfielder Maximo Perrone is in line to join Italian side Como.

Romano claims that the two clubs have agreed for the 21-year-old to spend the rest of the current season on loan at Como, who will pay the player’s wages in full until June.

Perrone joined City from Velez Sarsfield in January last year and played twice for Guardiola’s side before being sent out on loan to Spanish side Las Palmas.

Perrone is set to leave Man City on loan

He made 30 appearances for Las Palmas across all competitions, but hasn’t done enough to secure himself a place in Guardiola’s plans for the current campaign.

The former Argentina under-20 international will now join a Como side managed by Chelsea and Arsenal legend Cesc Fabregas, competing in the Italian top flight for the first time in more than two decades.

He will play alongside a number of stars including former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina, former Fiorentina striker Patrick Cutrone, and ex-Torino star Andrea Belotti.

Como were beaten 3-0 by Juventus on their first game back in Serie A, but Fabregas will hope that the imminent arrival of Perrone can help his side avoid relegation.
