Manchester United face Fulham in the opening game of the new Premier League season.

The Red Devils finished eighth in the table last term and were set to miss out on qualification for European football this term, before victory over rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final earned them a place in the Europa League; at the expense of Chelsea who drop down to the Conference League and Newcastle United who miss out altogether.

Manager Erik ten Hag has signed a new contract with the club, and they confirmed the signing of forward Joshua Zirkzee over the weekend.

Now, it appears that United are closing in on their second signing of the transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United have finalised a move for Lille defender Leny Yoro.

The 18-year-old centre-back has impressed for the French top flight side over the past two seasons, and has now played 60 times for the club across all competitions at senior level.

Yoro is set to join Man United in the coming days

Romano claims that the Frenchman has completed the first part of his medical ahead of the proposed move, with the player set to sign a five-year-contract with the club.

It is claimed that the agreed deal is worth an initial £42 million plus add-ons.

Yoro will become the second signing of the Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS era at Old Trafford, following the arrival of Zirkzee from Italian side Bologna.

The France Under-23 international will compete with the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire for a starting spot in Ten Hag’s side next term.
