Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will be working hard to identify potential transfer targets to bolster his squad this month.

The Red Devils currently sit seventh in the Premier League table after a difficult first half of the season which also saw them knocked out of the Champions League at the group stage.

Erik ten Hag’s side will have to improve in the second half of the campaign if they are to finish in the top four and qualify for next season’s Champions League, with 11 points currently separating them from fourth-placed Aston Villa.

In the meantime, it is being reported that United are still trying to sign an Eredivisie star this month.

According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Ten Hag remains keen to sign Ajax star Brian Brobbey this month.

The journalist claims that United tried to sign the forward last summer, but the two clubs have since remained in contact and the Red Devils could once again attempt to land him.

Brobbey, 21, is a product of the Ajax youth academy and has made more than 100 appearances for the Dutch side across all competitions, scoring 40 goals and providing 11 assists.

Brobbey remains of interest to Manchester Unnited

In 2021, the Dutchman joined German side RB Leipzig on a free transfer, but returned to the Dutch capital the following January.

He made just 14 appearances during his time in Germany, failing to score a single goal.

After initially returning to Ajax on loan, Brobbey made his switch to the Eredivisie side permanent in the summer of 2022.

The report claims that Ajax don’t want to sell the player this month, but that United will make an attempt to sign him by this summer at the latest.

Brobbey worked under Ten Hag during the 53-year-old’s time in charge of Ajax, and it appears that the United boss is keen on a reunion in Manchester.
