Manchester United boss have discussed two possible centre back signings with new manager Erik ten Hag during internal talks, according to reports.

As per Caught Offside, Dutch defender Jurrien Timber has been touted by those in charge of the club as a possible target to appease their defensive woes.

The 20-year-old established himself as a first team regular under Ten Hag at Ajax this season, missing just four league games.

The form he displayed has persuaded the new United boss to consider a move for the player, as he looks to resolve the Red Devils’ defensive crisis.

United conceded 57 goals in the Premier League this season as they recorded their lowest points tally in the competition, and Ten Hag will have to address the backline as a priority.

Pau Torres has been heavily linked with a number of clubs

Another name discussed during talks at the club is Pau Torres, who has shone in La Liga for current side Villarreal.

The Spaniard was one of the standout centre-backs once again this season in the Spanish top flight, and is believed to have a release clause of just over £50 million included in his current deal.

The report claims, though, that United believe the fee could be negotiable and may make an audacious offer for the Spanish international.

There is no news yet on the future of club captain Harry Maguire, who endured arguably his worst season yet at Old Trafford.

The England international is expected to remain a United player, but Ten Hag will be hoping to get the best out of him if they are to be successful next term.
