Manchester United host League One side Barnsley in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils battled to a 3-0 win over Southampton last time out, with Matthijs De Ligt, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho all on the scoresheet at St. Mary’s.

Erik ten Hag’s side have now won two and lost two of their Premier League matches so far this season, and the Dutchman will hope to oversee another domestic cup run having won both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup during his time in Manchester.

Now, a player that has featured regularly for the Red Devils at the start of the new season appears to be in line for a new contract.

As per Football Insider, the club are planning to hand winger Amad Diallo a new contract after he established himself in the first team at Old Trafford.

Diallo is in line for a new deal with Man United

The Ivory Coast international joined United from Italian side Atalanta in January 2021 and has since spent time on loan at Scottish side Rangers and Football League outfit Sunderland.

After suffering a serious knee injury, the Ivorian broke into the first team at Old Trafford towards the end of last season and has featured in all five of their games so far this season – including the Community Shield defeat against rivals Manchester City at Wembley.

Diallo, 22, has now played 26 times for United across all competitions, scoring four times and providing three assists.

The winger’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the current season, but those in charge of the club are keen to agree a new deal with him.

The Manchester outfit have the option to extend the player’s current deal by a further 12 months, which could buy them time to then agree a longer-term deal with him.

At present, Diallo would be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign club in January.
