Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim will be desperate to see his side return to winning ways when they face Everton on Saturday afternoon.

United were beaten 1-0 by Tottenham Hotspur in their last outing, leaving them 15th in the Premier League table and in serious danger of failing to qualify for any form of European competition next term.

Amorim has guided the Red Devils to just four wins from his 14 Premier League matches in charge so far, although United to remain in both the FA Cup and Europa League.

Since taking charge at Old Trafford in November last year, Amorim has been rumoured to be interested in a number of players at his former club Sporting CP.

Now, it appears that the Portuguese has given the green light for United to move for one of his former players.

As per Fabrizio Romano via GiveMeSport, Amorim has given his approval for United to join the race to sign Sporting winger Geovany Quenda.

Quenda is a target for Man United boss Ruben Amorim

The 17-year-old broke into the first team in Lisbon under Amorim, and has now played 39 times for the Portuguese side across all competitions.

He has registered a combined nine goals and assists in that time, and his impressive displays have attracted interest from United.

The report claims that the Red Devils are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements this summer, with both Antony and Marcus Rashford facing uncertain futures.

The two wingers were both sent out on loan in January, joining Real Betis and Aston Villa respectively, and it remains to be seen whether or not either will return to the fold at Old Trafford.

With that in mind, those in charge of United’s recruitment are eyeing potential replacements, and Romano claims that Quenda is towards the top of United’s list of targets.

The teenager is, however, contracted to Sporting until 2027, having signed a long-term contract with his boyhood club.
