Manchester United will hope to build on a positive week when they face Crystal Palace on Saturday.

After consecutive defeats against Brighton and Liverpool, the Red Devils returned to winning ways last weekend as they beat Southampton 3-0 at St. Mary’s.

United then cruised to a convincing 7-0 win over League One outfit Barnsley in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday when Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Christian Eriksen all scored twice, with Antony also on the scoresheet.

Despite their recent improvement, it appears that United boss Erik ten Hag is still under pressure at Old Trafford.

Football Insider claims that the Dutchman is ‘one defeat away’ from crisis with pressure continuing to grow on him.

Ten Hag took charge of United in the summer of 2022 and has since won both domestic cups during his time in charge.

Ten Hag guided United to the FA Cup last season

The ex-Ajax boss has had several off-field issues to deal with, including a public fall out with winger Jadon Sancho at the start of last term.

Despite winning both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, the report claims that Ten Hag is still under significant pressure from the club’s owners, including Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS.

Towards the end of last season it was widely reported that Ten Hag would be sacked regardless of the result in the FA Cup final against rivals Manchester City, but victory at Wembley appeared to change the minds of the owners as the Dutchman was then given a contract extension.

Since then, a humiliating 3-0 defeat against Liverpool did very little to relieve the pressure on Ten Hag, but the report suggests that those in charge of the club are hoping to see his side build on recent wins over the Saints and Barnsley.

United face a relatively appealing run of games in the coming fortnight, but they do then face Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City before Christmas.
