Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag may feel that the international break has come at the perfect time, with pressure mounting on the Dutchman following United’s poor start to the season.

A goalless draw against Aston Villa on Sunday means the Red Devils have now won just three of 11 matches across all competitions so far this term.

Ten Hag has now overseen United’s two worst ever starts to top flight seasons, with this term’s being even worse than last season.

The ex-Ajax boss once again finds himself under huge pressure at Old Trafford, with speculation rife that he will be sacked by the club’s owners.

In the meantime, though, it has emerged that the Dutchman ignored one of the United players for two weeks when he first joined the club.

According to Football Insider, Ten Hag didn’t speak to goalkeeper Altay Bayindir for a fortnight after the Turk joined the club.

Bayindir has only played twice for United since joining last summer

The 26-year-old signed for United from Turkish top flight side Fenerbahce last summer, but the report suggests that he was not greeted by or introduced to Ten Hag for two weeks.

At first, the Turkey international only spent time with the club’s goalkeeping coaches.

Since his move to England Bayindir has only played twice for Manchester United, making one appearance in each of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

The report claims that Ten Hag’s actions behind closed doors have been a cause for concern for some of the United first team, and his decision to snub Bayindir for the first fortnight of his time at the club reiterates this.

It is also claimed that the atmosphere amongst the club’s staff last year was ‘not good’ at times after Ten Hag had a dispute with then-assistant manager Steve McClaren.
