Manchester United will hope to keep alive their last remaining chance of silverware this season when they face Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday.

The Red Devils were eliminated from the Champions League at the group stage and were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Newcastle United in the fourth round.

That leaves the FA Cup as United’s only remaining chance of lifting a trophy this season, and manager Erik ten Hag will be desperate to do so in his second season in charge, having lifted the Carabao Cup last term.

Despite last season’s success, rumours continue to circulate about Ten Hag’s future, and it now appears that one of his former clubs could look to lure him away from Old Trafford.

As per Football Insider, Dutch giants Ajax are eying Ten Hag as a replacement for interim boss John van’t Schip.

Ten Hag’s future has been throwin into doubt following United’s change in ownership

The report suggests that the Eredivisie giants’ incoming CEO Alex Kroes is keen to re-appoint the Dutchman as manager for next season.

Ten Hag, 54, left Amsterdam to take charge of United in the summer of 2022, ending a successful five-year spell in the Dutch capital.

During his time at Ajax, Ten Hag won six trophies including three Eredivisie titles.

He added to his trophy cabinet in his first season in Manchester, guiding the Red Devils to a Carabao Cup triumph after beating Newcastle United in the final at Wembley.

Ten Hag has also guided United to 38 wins from 68 Premier League matches since taking charge of the club.

Sports Entertainment Group, co-founded by Kroes, represent Ten Hag as his management, which will only fuel further speculation about a return to Amsterdam.
