Manchester United travel to Yorkshire to face Sheffield United when domestic football returns next weekend.

The Red Devils narrowly avoided a third consecutive home defeat last time out, with substitute Scott McTominay scoring twice in added time to earn a 2-1 comeback win over Brentford at Old Trafford.

After the international break United will face a Blades side that are yet to win in the Premier League this season, and manager Erik ten Hag will be hoping that his side can kick on after victory over the Bees.

At present Ten Hag’s side sit tenth in the top flight table having won four of their eight league games so far, but it appears that the Dutchman is already eyeing potential transfer targets for next summer.

According to The South London Press, United are monitoring Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi with a view to potentially making a move for the player next summer.

Guehi is said to be a target for Manchester United

Guehi, 23, joined Palace from Chelsea back in 2021 and has since established himself as one of the best in the Premier League in his position.

The centre-back has made more than 90 appearances for the Eagles across all competitions so far, and has also established himself as a regular in the England squad over the past 12 months.

The former Blues man has now been capped six times by his country at senior level, and could add to that tally when England face Australia in a friendly on Friday evening.

It is claimed that United could make a move for the Englishman next summer, however a deal for Guehi would likely cost more than the £50 million that the Manchester club paid to sign right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Palace four years ago.

Guehi is currently contracted to the London side until the summer of 2026, but it remains to be seen whether or not Palace would be willing to cash in on the central defender next summer.
