Manchester United will continue their push for a top four spot when they face Brentford on Saturday night.

The Red Devils have been inconsistent so far this season and currently sit sixth in the Premier League table, nine points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

Manager Erik ten Hag will be desperate to see his side emerge victorious over the Bees, in order to keep alive their slim hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Off the pitch, it appears that those in charge of the club’s recruitment are planning ahead for the upcoming summer transfer window.

As per Sport via 90min, United are eyeing a move for Wolves midfielder as a potential replacement for Casemiro.

The Brazilian midfielder cost the Red Devils £70 million when he joined from Real Madrid in 2022 but, after an impressive start, he has struggled recently.

Gomes has emerged as a target for Manchester United

With just two years remaining on his current contract, the report suggests that United could make the player available for sale this summer.

If they do offload the 32-year-old, the report claims that United could move for Wolves star Gomes.

The Brazilian joined Wolves from Flamengo in January last year, and has since impressed at Molineux.

In total he has made 39 appearances for Wolves across all competitions, including 28 so far this season.

The 23-year-old was also handed his first senior appearance for Brazil last weekend, during a 1-0 win over England at Wembley.

Gomes’ current contract is set to run until the end of the 2027/28 season, but United could test Wolves’ resolve if Casemiro departs Old Trafford this summer.

It is claimed that United are preparing a £35 million offer for the midfielder, whose current deal also includes an option for a further 12 months.
