Manchester United will hope to arrest their dismal run of form when they face Premier League leaders Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils have lost five of their last six league matches and currently sit 14th in the top flight table.

New head coach Ruben Amorim will be desperate to see his side pull of a shock result against fierce rivals Liverpool, who have lost just once this term and boast a six-point lead at the top of the standings.

With the January transfer window now in full swing, it has emerged that United could allow one of their defenders to leave the club this month.

According to GiveMeSport, the Manchester club could let left-back Tyrell Malacia depart Old Trafford before the end of the January window.

The Dutchman has been plagued by injuries over the last two years and was sidelined for the entirety of last season, only recently making his return to action.

Malacia is a target for Serie A side Juventus

It is claimed that the club have not yet ruled out the possibility of selling Malacia this month, with the player having attracted interest from Italian giants Juventus.

Malacia, 25, joined the Red Devils from Dutch side Feyenoord in the summer of 2022 and has since played 43 times for the club across all competitions.

The report claims that United could allow Malacia to move to Turin if they can source an upgrade on the Dutchman and his fellow left-back Luke Shaw, who has also missed several months due to injury over the past couple of years.

The likes of Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez have filled in on the left side of defence in the absence of Malacia and Shaw.

Juventus are said to be interested in United striker Joshua Zirkzee, and the report suggests that the Italian outfit are also considering a double swoop to sign Netherlands international Malacia on loan.

Malacia is under contract with United until the summer of 2026.
