Liverpool must over turn a three-goal deficit if they are to progress past Atalanta and into the Europa League semi-finals.

The Reds suffered a shock 3-0 defeat against the Italian side at Anfield last week, and must therefore produce a stunning comeback to reach the competition’s last four.

Just last week Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was chasing a quadruple in his final season in charge of the club but, after following the defeat against Atalanta with a 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace, the German may now finish the season without any more silverware.

Klopp’s successor is still yet to be announced, but it appears that one of the hot favourites for the job could bring a highly-rated striker with him if he does replace Klopp.

According to HITC, Manchester United have joined the race to sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, but are concerned that Liverpool could beat them to the signing.

Gyokeres has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer

Current Sporting boss Ruben Amorim has been heavily linked with the soon-t0-be-vacant role at Anfield, and it is suggested that he could bring Gyokeres with him to Merseyside if he does take charge.

It is claimed that Amorim would look to bring a number of Sporting stars to Liverpool and Gyokeres, who has also attracted interest from Chelsea, would be one of them.

The 25-year-old striker has been in sensational form so far this season, scoring 36 goals and providing 16 assists in 43 matches across all competitions.

The Swede, who joined Sporting from Coventry City last summer, is contracted to the Portuguese side until the end of the 2027/28 campaign.

Mohamed Salah has been heavily linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer, and the Reds could therefore be in the market for attacking reinforcements.
