Manchester United will be hoping to move a step closer to Champions League qualification when they welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Red Devils surrendered a two-goal lead last time out as they drew against Tottenham Hotspur, but still remain in a commanding position to finish in the Premier League’s top four this term.

Villa, however, have been in sensational form of late, winning eight of their last ten league games and drawing the other two.

In the meantime, it appears that United could make a sensational move for one of the world’s biggest stars.

According to The Sun, the Manchester side could make a move for Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar this summer, if Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani is successful in buying the club.

The Qatari is said to be plotting an audacious move for the Brazilian, who has been heavily linked with a move away from French champions PSG in recent months.

Neymar, 31, remains the most expensive player in history following his £198 million move from Barcelona in 2017.

Neymar could be the subject of a sensational offer from Manchester United

Since then, the Brazil international has netted 118 times and registered 77 assists in 173 games for PSG across all competitions.

United’s current owners, the Glazers, were hoping to sell the club for a staggering £6 billion, but they are yet to receive an offer of that amount and could therefore allow for a part-takeover.

If Sheikh Jassim’s offer is successful, the Qatari will reportedly ensure that one of the first things he does at the club is to make a move for the forward.

Neymar’s current contact with the Ligue 1 side is set to expire in the summer of 2025, although it appears increasingly likely that he will leave the club prior to that date.

The player’s poor injury record, combined with his reported £616,000-per-week wages, have prompted rumours that he will be sold this summer.
