Manchester United’s line up for their Premier League opener against Fulham at the start of August could look very different to the side that finished last term.

While manager Erik ten Hag is now set to stay put at Old Trafford, a number of players have been linked with departures from the club, and those in charge of United will undoubtedly be keen to bolster the Dutchman’s squad too.

Like many of their Premier League rivals, United are likely to have to sell players this summer in order to avoid breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

Now, it appears that one of United’s defenders has attracted interest from a Turkish side, managed by a former Red Devils boss.

According to Fabrizio Romano via CaughtOffside, Swedish centre-back Victor Lindelof has emerged as a target for Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce, who are now managed by Jose Mourinho.

Lindelof could be set for a reunion with former manager Jose Mourinho

The Portuguese manager signed Lindelof from Benfica when he was in charge at Old Trafford in 2017, and it appears that the former Chelsea boss is keen for a reunion.

Since joining United seven years ago, the 29-year-old has made 259 appearances for the club across all competitions, although he has primarily been used as back-up over the past couple of seasons.

Last term the Swede made 28 appearances, starting 14 of United’s 38 Premier League games.

He is behind the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire in the pecking order in Ten Hag’s side, although Raphael Varane is set to depart Old Trafford at the end of this month.

Despite Fenerbahce’s interest, Romano claims that talks are not yet at an advanced stage and the player himself is currently deciding his future.
