Manchester United will hope to return to winning ways when they travel to the south coast to face Bournemouth on Sunday.

The Red Devils have endured a dismal season so far and were beaten 1-0 by Wolves in their last outing.

That result left Ruben Amorim’s side 14th in the Premier League table, meaning they will have to win the Europa League to qualify for European football next term.

Amorim, who took charge late last year following the sacking of Erik ten Hag, will likely want to bolster his squad during his first summer transfer window with the club.

With that in mind, it appears that United are once again eyeing a move for a Barcelona star.

As per Fichajes via GiveMeSport, Man United are hoping to finally sign Barcelona midfielder Frankie de Jong this summer.

De Jong is once again a target for Manchester United

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the Dutchman for several seasons now, but a move has never materialised.

De Jong, 27, joined Barcelona from Ajax in 2019 and has since played more than 250 times for the Catalan club across all competitions.

It is claimed that the Spanish side are reluctant to sell De Jong this summer, however United could test their resolve with an offer when the window opens.

The midfielder’s current £415,000-per-week contract is set to expire in 2026, which means this summer could be Barcelona’s last chance to cash in on the Netherlands international.

The club are, however, said to be intent on agreeing a new deal with the central midfielder.

It is claimed that Amorim and those in charge of United’s recruitment have identified the Dutchman as an ideal target to bolster their current midfield.

The news comes amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the futures of current United midfielders Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.
