Ollie Watkins’ late goal earned England victory over The Netherlands on Wednesday, setting up a meeting with Spain in the final of Euro 2024.

Gareth Southgate’s side have come from behind in all three of their knockout games at the tournament so far, and once again had to after Xavi Simons put the Dutch in front early on.

Harry Kane then won and converted a penalty to tie the game at 1-1, before Watkins’ winner in the final seconds of normal time sealed the Three Lions place in a second successive Euros final.

Now, though, one of the Dutch players is seemingly on his way to join Manchester United.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils are finalising a move for Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee.

Zirkzee is set to join Manchester United in the coming days

It is claimed that United are not paying Zirkzee’s release clause but are instead paying a slightly higher fee of around £34 million, to be paid over a three year period.

The 23-year-old enjoyed an impressive campaign with Italian side Bologna last season, netting 11 times in 34 Serie A matches.

Romano claims that the Dutchman will sign a long-term contract until 2029 with United, in doing so becoming the first signing the Red Devils have made since Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS invested in the club.

Zirkzee joined Bologna from German giants Bayern Munich in 2022 and has since played 58 times for the Italian side across all competitions.

He has previously spent time with Anderlecht, Parma and Feyenoord.
