Manchester United have denied rumours suggesting that Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract will be terminated.

The Portugal international is desperate to leave the club this summer in a bid to return to Champions League football, but he has so far failed to attract any significant interest from clubs.

Recent reports had suggested that The Red Devils were considering agreeing to a mutual termination of the player’s contract, although the club have since denied this, according to Sky Sports.

Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions for United last season

The report claims that United have insisted that the 37-year-old is not for sale, stating that there has been ‘no change in the club’s position’.

Ronaldo’s current deal is due to expire in 12 months time, although there is an option included in the deal that could see him stay for a further year.

The likes of Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Sporting Lisbon have all been linked with the player, but no club has been close to completing a deal.

The Portuguese was visibly frustrated by United’s 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Brentford on Saturday, a result that left Erik ten Hag’s side bottom of the Premier League table with zero points.
