Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim will hope that his side’s victory over Chelsea on Saturday can kickstart their season.

The Red Devils have endured a slow start to the new campaign but ran out 2-1 winners over the Blues, who were reduced to ten men after just five minutes when goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was sent off.

Despite United finishing the first-half with ten men too following Casemiro’s dismissal, the hosts held on to run out 2-1 winners at Old Trafford.

The victory – just United’s second of the season in the league – may have slightly eased the pressure on Amorim, who has endured a torrid time since taking charge of the club last November.

Now, it has emerged that those in charge of Man United have identified three possible candidates to replace Amorim if he is sacked.

According to Football Insider, the Red Devils have compiled a three-man shortlist to replace Amorim, namely Oliver Glasner, Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola.

It is claimed that those in charge of the Manchester giants have identified Crystal Palace boss Glasner as an option as he is currently in the final year of his contract with the club.

The Austrian has guided the Eagles to FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs in recent months, and is now managing his side in the Europa Conference League.

Iraola, meanwhile, is also in the final year of his current contract with Bournemouth, and that makes him of interest to United, the report suggests.

Fulham boss Silva is another candidate, the report suggests, with the Portuguese having grown frustrated at the Cottagers’ perceived lack of ambition.

Despite those in charge of the club considering possible replacements for Amorim, the report does suggest that the ex-Sporting CP boss retains the backing of the club and is unlikely to be sacked any time soon.
