Chelsea’s poor run of form continued on Thursday evening as they were beaten 1-0 by Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

A second half goal from Riyad Mahrez was enough to give the visitors victory, although several of The Blues’ youngsters impressed and may well have earned themselves further opportunities in the coming weeks.

Chelsea’s new signing Benoit Badiashile was in the stands watching the match, alongside owner Todd Boehly.

The Frenchman joined the club from Ligue 1 side Monaco on Thursday in a deal worth a reported £33 million.

Now, it appears that the Ligue 1 side could be set to lose another defender.

According to The Mail, Manchester United have held talks with Monaco over a potential move for Axel Disasi.

The 24-year-old has impressed for his current side so far this season, starting 16 of their 17 games in the French top flight.

It is also claimed that both West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the defender, who primarily plays as a centre-back but has also been used on the right in the past.

Disasi made his debut for France against Tunisia at the World Cup, and also featured against Poland and Argentina

The defender has regularly played alongside Chelsea new boy Badiashile for Monaco, but it seems that the French club may soon be without both players.

Disasi – who made his debut for the French senior side at the World Cup in Qatar – is expected to leave Monaco in the near future.

His contract doesn’t expire until 2025, but his performances in Ligue 1 have attracted interest from a number of other clubs.

The defender joined his current side from Reims back in 2020 and has since made 105 appearances for Monaco, scoring nine goals.

The Red Devils are believed to be in the market for at least one central defender, with Harry Maguire having failed to impress new boss Erik ten Hag.

Maguire has been snubbed by Ten Hag in recent weeks, with the Dutchman opting to start Luke Shaw as a makeshift centre-back, leaving the ex-Leicester City man on the bench.

Despite the England international’s lack of game time, United apparently remain adamant that Maguire will not be allowed to leave Old Trafford this month.
