The 2024/25 Premier League season begins on 16 August with Fulham facing Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s side will hope to have a better season than last term, when they finished eighth in the Premier League table and had to rely on winning the FA Cup in order to qualify for European competition.

Victory over rivals Manchester City at Wembley earned Ten Hag a second domestic cup triumph since taking charge of the Red Devils, and the Dutchman will be desperate to add to his trophy cabinet next season.

In the meantime, it appears that United are working on a deal to sign a Serie A forward.

As per Football Insider, the Manchester outfit are in talks with the representatives of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee with a view to potentially signing the player this summer.

Zirkzee’s impressive season with Bologna has alerted some of Europe’s top clubs

Zirkzee, 23, has just enjoyed an impressive season for the Serie A side, helping them to a fifth-placed finish in the Italian top flight.

He scored 12 goals in 37 matches across all competitions, and his impressive form appears to have attracted interest from those in charge at Old Trafford.

The former Bayern Munich starlet is contracted to Bologna until the summer of 2026, but the report claims that United have identified him as a target for this summer’s window and are pushing ahead with talks over a move.

Zirkzee joined his current side from Bayern in the summer of 2022, having previously had loan spells with Belgian side Anderlecht and Italian outfit Parma.

United are keen to add to Ten Hag’s attacking options this summer, and Zirkzee is one of the players being considered.
