Holders Manchester United will find out their FA Cup fifth round opponents when the draw takes place on Monday night.

The Red Devils beat rivals Manchester City in the last season’s final at Wembley, and new head coach Ruben Amorim may see the competition as United’s best opportunity to lift silverware this term, especially considering the surprise exits of Liverpool and Chelsea over the weekend.

While United have struggled in the Premier League, they will now fancy their chances of reaching the final for a third consecutive campaign with the Citizens the only other side left in the competition to have won the trophy this century.

In the meantime, it appears that United are eyeing a move for a former Man City star.

According to Fichajes via GiveMeSport, the Manchester outfit have identified Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane as a potential transfer target as they look to bolster Amorim’s attacking options.

The report claims that the Red Devils are on the hunt for a new winger following the departure of Marcus Rashford.

The England international has joined Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the season, but the deal also included an option-to-buy clause and the winger may therefore never play for United again.

Sane is a target for Manchester United

With that in mind, those in charge of United’s recruitment are said to be drawing up a list of potential targets, and ex-Man City star Sane is on that list.

The 29-year-old joined City from German side Schalke in 2016 and went on to make 135 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 39 goals and providing 43 assists.

He then departed The Etihad to join Bayern in 2020, and has since recorded a combined 107 goals and assists in 202 games.

The Germany international, who primarily plays on the right flank, is under contract with Bayern until the end of the current campaign, and it remains to be seen whether or not he will stay put in Bavaria beyond then.
