Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will be hoping to see his side improve when they face Brighton and Hove Albion after the international break.

The Red Devils have failed to impress so far this term, losing to both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal as well as only narrowly beating Wolves on the opening weekend.

The Dutchman will hope that new signing Sofyan Amrabat, who joined the club from Fiorentina last week, will be able to improve his side’s fortunes once domestic football returns.

In the meantime, United are trying to tie Aaron Wan-Bissaka down to a new contract, according to The Telegraph.

The report claims that the Red Devils have opened talks with the right-back over a new deal as he has less than 12 months remaining on his current one.

Wan-Bissaka, 25, joined United from Crystal Palace back in 2019 for a fee of around £50 million and initially impressed at Old Trafford.

The defender made exactly 100 appearances across all competitions over the course of his first two seasons in Manchester, but has struggled to maintain a regular starting spot during the two campaigns since.

Having signed a five-year deal when joining United, Wan-Bissaka’s contract is set to expire next summer and United are keen to agree an extension following an impressive run of form.

When Ten Hag first arrived in Manchester, Wan-Bissaka was rarely used but he has established himself as the Dutchman’s first choice right-back over the past 12 months.

Last term the Englishman made 34 appearances across all competitions, including 18 of their final 24 league matches.

In total the full-back has made 164 appearances for United since joining the club four years ago, and it appears that he is likely to stay put in Manchester beyond next summer.
